The movement is caliber ST-90016 automatic which hacks and runs at 21600 bph and can manually wind too. The crystal is krysterna sapphire which means not easily scratched. The turning gear apparently failed, for some unknown reason. I have other Stuhrling watches and have never had a problem with them. This one was relatively inexpensive. I now think I know why.
